Substantial capital investment ensures long-term sustainability

DCD Heavy Engineering, part of the Mining and Energy Cluster division of internationally recognised manufacturing and engineering company, DCD Group, has over the past seven years, spent more than R100-million in capital investment on equipment and machine upgrades to improve its overall technological offering.


DCD Wind Towers is a R300m, 23 000m2 manufacturing facility located at the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) in the Eastern Cape, and is a joint initiative between the DCD Group, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the Coega Development Corporation (CDC). We take a look.

DCD’s Mining & Energy cluster offers products and components for mining activities and power generation plants including coal, hydro, wind and nuclear. 

Companies in the cluster have supplied components to all coal fired power stations erected in SA from the 1960’s to the 1990’s and are currently supplying new coal fired power stations, Medupi and Kusile. In addition they have been involved in all the nuclear energy projects in SA to date as well as hydro electric plant.
