DCD Wind Towers, in partnership with the Industrial Developement Corporation and the Coega Developement Corporation, are investing R300 million to build 23 000m2 wind tower electricity generating facility in Port Elizabeth. The official sod-turning ceremony was conducted was conducted yesterday by the Minister of Energy, Dipuo Peters. DCD managing director Rob King said 600 constrution and 200 operational jobs would be created, with a total of another 1951 more jobs when the wind farms come into operation.

The wind turbine powers will vary in size ranging between 80m and 120m, with individual sections weighing between 40 and 60 tons. The initial supply of the towers is expected to start in February or March next year.
