The focus of this brochure is specifically aimed at our Technical positions that are as follows:


Project (Contracts) Manager Position
This position ensures that projects are completed on time and budget, and to the agreed specification. It also co-ordinates the different groups involved in large projects e.g. engineering services, construction project finance, scheduling, planning and ensures that the detailed engineering layout is carried out in an economically efficient way. The incumbent is required to report progress of the project on a monthly basis and establishes and maintains relationships with clients. As this is a managerial position, this incumbent will supervise project staff. The minimum requirements for the position entail more than 10 years' experience as a Project Manager with the appropriate engineering qualification.

Engineer (Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Industrial) Positions
The minimum requirements for our Engineers are a related Diploma /B.Tech/B Eng plus 4 years' experience.

This position is required to perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. It also oversees the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems.

The Industrial Engineer applies industrial engineering techniques in order to improve operating performance, to reduce waste and delays, to produce cost reductions and higher levels of efficiency. The incumbent also develops and optimises manufacturing methods to improve material handling and production processes as well as standard operating procedures.

The position is required to perform engineering work of various types in the design or re-design, manufacture installation, operation or maintenance of electronic and electromagnetic systems or equipment. The incumbent also plans, coordinates and controls the electrical engineering design aspects of a project and also contacts suppliers to obtain design information.

Welding Engineering
The Welding Engineer is responsible to ensure all procedures and designs meet regulations and requirements as well as design and develop new welding techniques, equipment, or fabrication procedures. This incumbent also evaluates current welding techniques and processes and makes recommendations for enhancements as well as remains up to date in state-of-the-field advancements and incorporates new techniques as appropriate.

Metallurgical Engineer
The Metallurgist conducts advanced metallurgical tests and research programmes in the testing of new formulations. The incumbent also performs feasibility studies.

Artisan Positions (Electrician, Fitter & Turner, Millwright, Pipe Fitter, Rigger, Welder and Specialised Welders)
The minimum requirement for all our Artisan positions is an N3/Grade 12 & trade test and 3 years' experience.

This Artisan constructs, assembles, and repairs boilers, vats and other large vessels that hold liquids and gases.

The responsibility of this position is to install, maintain, repair, test and commission electrical and electronic equipment and systems. He/she may also work on electrical transmission and distribution equipment.

Fitter & Turner
This position is required to make, fit and repair parts for machines and related equipment as well as carry out maintenance checks on machines and diagnoses faults. He/she also cleans and installs equipment and machinery.

The Millwright is responsible for installing, repairing, replacing and dismantling machinery and heavy equipment used in industry and also carries out preventative maintenance.

Pipe Fitter
The responsibility of this position is the lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.

This Artisan is responsible for assembling and installing rigging gear such as cables, ropes, pulleys and winches to lift, lower, move or position machinery, structural steel and other heavy objects.

Welder (Specialised & Submerged Arc)
The responsibility of this position is to perform welding of metal objects using a gas torch or arc welder as well as plans and produces metal forms or objects, or reconstructs damaged articles of various metals and alloys. The work involves accomplishing welding that fuses different metals and withstands great strength demands while avoiding distortion.

Estimator Position
The Estimator obtains technical information, flow diagrams and layout drawings from the Engineering Department as well as extracts components and quantities from drawings and provides a total preliminary cost budget for the project. The incumbent also works from current costs as supplied by predetermined suppliers. He/she also supervises clerical staff. The minimum requirements for this position are a Grade 12/Engineering Apprentice/ Diploma or degree with 5 years' experience.

Planner (Production/Maintenance) Position
The Planner is responsible for the operation and administration of planned maintenance systems and is also required to do scheduled inspections in order to maintain operations at maximum safety standards. The minimum requirements for this position are Grade 12/N3 plus 3 years' experience (a formal trade is highly recommended).
